Area Agency on Aging selects 2023 Huron County Outstanding Senior Citizen

Ontario OH – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc., is proud to announce the 2023 Huron County Outstanding Senior Citizen to be Joyce Ditz.

Joyce Ditz is an entrepreneur at heart focused on her community. She founded her own business in 1980 called Ditz Designs by the Hen House in Norwalk. She launched a program called Love Your Neighbor which invites community members to discuss current issues in Norwalk. At the age of 83, she became the Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Norwalk.

In the presence of family, friends, and dignitaries, Joyce Ditz was honored on Wednesday, August 30th at the Area Agency on Aging, located within Hawkins Conference Center hosted by Duana Patton, Chief Executive Officer at the Area Agency on Aging, and Jason Painley, Corporate Board President.

Each year, the Area Agency on Aging honors senior citizens who are making a difference in their communities and present a positive image of aging. There is one award recipient for each county in the Agency’s service area (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot).

 

Awardees must first be nominated by an individual or organization involved with seniors. They are then selected by the Agency based on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments within the community made after reaching age 60.
