The Outstanding Senior Citizen Award recognizes older adults who have made a difference in their communities after reaching age 60.
DEADLINE for Applications is April 3rd, 2026.
Individuals and organizations may submit nominations for senior citizens to the Area Agency on Aging. There will be one (1) awardee for each county in our service area.
Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria:
1. Individual must be 60 years of age or older
2. Nominee must be legal resident of Ohio for at least 5 years. Posthumous nominations are accepted.
3. Major emphasis should be placed on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments to the community made by the individual AFTER reaching age 60; however, prior contributions may be considered.
4. Service in any field of endeavor should be considered (e.g., education, radio, television, business, medicine, art, music, journalism, religion, athletics, politics, and volunteer service).
5. A husband and wife may receive this award jointly when both have been involved in service and various community endeavors.
6. Previous recipients are not eligible – please contact the AAA5 if you are not sure.
7. The individual must be either a resident of one of the 9 counties (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, or Wyandot) OR has volunteered and positively impacted one of those 9 counties.

If your nominee is selected, the Award Ceremony will be held at the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging.
