Ontario OH – The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc., is proud to announce the 2023 Marion County Outstanding Senior Citizens to be Fred and Margie Saull.
The Saulls have dedicated their lives to education and enriching the lives of our future leaders. Fred Saull was named Teacher of the Year at Taft Middle School and Teacher of the Year for District 8 for the State of Ohio. He retired after 39 years of service in education. His wife, Margie Saull was named Teacher of the Year twice at George Washington Elementary. She was also named teacher of the year for District 8 for the State of Ohio. She also leads the Honor Flight in Marion for Veterans.
In the presence of family, friends, and dignitaries, Fred and Margie Saull were honored on Wednesday, August 30th at the Area Agency on Aging, located within Hawkins Conference Center hosted by Duana Patton, Chief Executive Officer at the Area Agency on Aging, and Jason Painley, Corporate Board President.
Each year, the Area Agency on Aging honors senior citizens who are making a difference in their communities and present a positive image of aging. There is one award recipient for each county in the Agency’s service area (Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot).
Awardees must first be nominated by an individual or organization involved with seniors. They are then selected by the Agency based on the impact of their contributions and accomplishments within the community made after reaching age 60.
